Summary

The F-35 Lightning II Multifunction Advanced Data Link is a sub-level of the F-35 Link-16 data link management system, focused on networking pilots and tracking nodes in the network. The system allows aircraft a discreet data link for mission planning. SkiCAMP is updating the mission planning software for the F-35, and the CyberWorx team is assisting by updating the UI for the MADL data link editor.

Outcome

Beginning October 2020, CyberWorx worked with developers from SkiCAMP and SpaceCamp to design a better user interface for the mission planner, increasing planning efficiency and overall usability. The developers worked to ensure the result would be compatible with the Next-Generation Open Mission System (NOMS) so other mission planners could use it. The MADL sub-system is meant to self-heal if a node in the network is broken.

Next Steps

CyberWorx will continue improving the user interface for the updated MADL mission planning sub-system in coordination with SkiCAMP developers.
